Rumors may be swirling that Calvin Harris broke things off with Taylor Swift, but that's not what really happened, according to Page Six.

"She broke up with him this week," a source close to the music producer, born Adam Richard Wiles, told the publication. "She gave a bullsh*t excuse about her career."

"He was ring shopping," the insider added.

Meanwhile, a friend to Swift had told PEOPLE magazine: "Calvin said on multiple occasions that he was intimidated by Taylor, which is why he would not attend any events where she was being honored, or any award shows unless he was nominated."

Of course, Harris' pal was quick to point out his equally prosperous career. "He's not intimidated. He's a global success," the source insisted.

As RadarOnline.com previously reported, Swift, 26, and Harris, 32, first weathered a rough patch last October when Harris was spotted at an L.A. Thai massage parlor known for "happy endings." They reunited, only to split for good last month.

Last night, Harris seemed to have enough of the rumor mill, assuring fans on Twitter: "The only truth here is that a relationship came to an end & what remains is a huge amount of love and respect."
