A blimp came crashing down this Thursday morning in Wisconsin on the opening day of the U.S. Open, RadarOnline.com can reveal.

Sportscaster Mike Hall shared via Twitter: “The blimp crash was far from the course but the smoke that rose above the trees afterwards was terrifying.”

Bystanders shared shocking videos of the blimp catching on fire before hitting the ground near highways 83 and 167.

The pilot was seen parachuting out to safety, and then landing on a nearby field.

Australian golf journalist Evin Priest wrote on Twitter. “The US Open blimp has crashed in the woods outside the course. Smoke seen.”

According to the Golf Channel, the blimp was an advertiser, and not connected to FOX or the USGA.

“We hope everyone is OK and safe,” the network tweeted.
