Divorcing Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert said “this is not the future we envisioned" in an emotional joint statement over their failed marriage Monday.
“It is with heavy hearts that we move forward separately,” the country music superstars said in a joint statement to the AP after news broke of their shocking split, following four years of marriage that began with a lavish May 2011 wedding in Texas Hill Country.
Shelton, 39, and Lambert, 31, continued, saying, "We are real people, with real lives, with real families, friends and colleagues.
"Therefore, we kindly ask for privacy and compassion concerning this very personal matter."
The Voice judge will keep the couple’s ranch in his native Oklahoma, according to reports, while the Grammy-winning beauty will get their Music City mansion in Nashville. They were last seen in April at the ACM Awards.
As RadarOnline.com previously reported, the couple had been dealing with issues related to Shelton’s drinking in recent months.
