Finally! ABC Picks Black 'Bachelorette'

Spoiler alert! Rachel Lindsay WON'T win Bachelor Nick Viall's final rose, but RadarOnline.com has learned she's getting something even better: the role of next season's Bachelorette!
The Hollywood Reporter reported this afternoon that the Texas attorney will be dumped on tonight's episode of ABC's show. Lindsay is then expected to announce the big news on Jimmy Kimmel Live!
The news is a long time coming for fans of the franchise. In 33 seasons of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette, there has never been a non-white lead. (Juan Pablo Galavis, a Venezuelan, is sometimes cited as an exception.)
ABC honcho Channing Dungey said last year that the show was actively working at increasing its diversity.
THR noted that Viall's season featured 8 nonwhite contestants out of a pool of 30. Bachelor Ben Higgins had only 5, all of whom were eliminated relatively early on, and Chris Soules had only one nonwhite suitor.
