Bill Cosby's legal troubles could be just beginning! Law enforcement insiders say the disgraced comedian could still face criminal charges based on former Playboy playmate Chloe Goins' sex abuse claims, even if he settles the lawsuit she brought against him.

Goins, 24, claims she was drugged and sexually abused by Cosby during an August 9, 2008, run-in at the famed mansion of the magazine's founder, Hugh Hefner.

Goins — who began speaking with authorities in early 2015 — previously claimed Cosby handed her a drink, and she lost consciousness, only to awaken to find the comedian's mouth on her toes while he was touching himself. He abruptly left after she told him she was uncomfortable, Goins said. She subsequently filed a sexual assault lawsuit against Cosby, 78.

But even if Cosby manages to reach a settlement with her in that case, the troubles may not be over.

According to a law enforcement source, "Criminal prosecution against Cosby in Los Angeles could go forward, even if a settlement is reached with Chloe Goins. If she no longer was a cooperating principal witness/victim, it would make the case much harder, but this is a high-profile case, and the DA is under a lot of pressure to not appear weak on crimes against women involving celebrities."

Cosby's attorney previously denied the incident took place, and Deadline.com reported that Cosby's camp provided detailed evidence to officials proving that he was out of town on the day in question.

However, Goins's attorney, Spencer T. Kuvin, previously told RadarOnline.com after Cosby was charged in Pennsylvania last week, "On behalf of my client and all of the victims we are pleased that he will be finally brought to justice in a criminal court. Criminal prosecution is something my client has always wanted first and foremost so that she could hopefully see him behind bars for what he's done to all of his victims."

When asked how the Pennsylvania charges help Goins's L.A. criminal case, Kuvin said, "It may help because of the criminal discovery process that is going to take place now that he is charged…. When that process begins, new evidence may surface that will assist L.A. in deciding what they are going to do with my client's case."

Cosby remains free on $1 million bail in the Pennsylvania case, and has denied any wrongdoing by the 50 female accusers.
