Real Housewives of Atlanta's star Phaedra Parks has so far refused to let her sons Dylan, 2, and Ayden, 5, visit their dad and her estranged husband, Apollo Nida, in his New Jersey correctional facility. But is it the right decision? RadarOnline.com has learned she recently consulted mental health experts to find out.

Nida, 37, was recently moved from a prison in Kentucky, to Fort Dix in New Jersey and "He continues to talk to the boys several times a week," an insider told Radar. "Phaedra and Apollo are continuing to co-parent."

"Apollo wants to see the boys, but he spoke to a childhood expert with Phaedra and they came to the conclusion this wouldn't be the best time for a visit."

"There will be a time when the boys will of course see their dad," the source insisted. "Phaedra doesn't want to keep the kids away from their dad for eight years! It's just a matter of the visit being appropriate, given the fact that the boys are so young, and it could be hard for them to process."

Parks, 44, announced on Dec. 22, 2014, that she was planning to divorce Nida.

While she still has not filed papers, the divorce talks "are still very much going on," the source explained. "There isn't any rush to officially file. Everything is extremely amicable between Apollo and Phaedra. They will always be in each other's lives because of the kids, and they only want what is best for them."
