Jon Stewart couldn’t stay off of TV for long, especially when the long-time wrestling fan got a chance to jump in the ring at summer’s biggest event, WWE’s SummerSlam!

The former star of The Daily Show served as host for the annual tournament watched by millions on Sunday night, but he couldn’t stay out of the action.

During the double championship match between John Cena and Seth Rollins, Stewart, who has been spatting with Rollins for months, made a surprising ally during SummerSlam at Brooklyn's Barclays Center.

In his big return to late-night television, Jon stormed the ring and smacked Cena with a metal chair, momentarily blindsiding him to give Rollins an edge and eventually the big victory. After pinning Cena, Rollins retained the WWE World Heavyweight Championship and won the United States Championship to become the first Superstar in WWE history to hold both titles at the same time.

Shocked fans will find out why Stewart pulled the move in the heat of the moment straight from his own mouth on Monday Night Raw at 8/7C on USA.
