VIDEO: ‘Transformer’ Singer Shifts American Idol Into High Gear

On Wednesday, judges Randy Jackson, Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez searched for the next American Idol in San Francisco, where Drew Beaumier spiced up his segment with a little gimmickry, dressing up in a Comic-Con-ready Transformers outfit to off-set his sub-par vocal capabilities.

Beaumier, 24, showed the judges panel he could, literally, transform into a miniature Power Wheels car with motor and all, prompting Lopez to say she “wished her 2-year-old son was here.”

“That’s how people are gonna get around in the future, ten more years,” Beaumier said, prior to belting out a pitiful rendition of Steppenwolf’s Born To Be Wild.

“It’s a no,” Jackson said.
