The hit series The Real Housewives of New York is shooting their fourth season and ex-model Kelly Bensimon was spotted taking a break and reading up on parenting skills. RadarOnline.com has exclusive photos of the beautiful housewife and spoke to her about how she keeps her children’s self-esteem up despite the pitfalls of peer pressure.
“I spent a lot of my teenage years in the modeling and fashion industry, being extremely conscious of my body. I want my girls to be healthy but don't want them to feel they have to count calories or be self-conscious,” Bensimon told RadarOnline.com about her daughters. Bensimon says her favorite chapter in Susan Shapiro Barash’s book You’re Grounded, But First Let’s Go Shopping focuses on feeding your children.
RadarOnlie.com caught up with the gender professor and author, best known for her book Toxic Friends, who had some advice for the reality star.
“I’m thrilled that she’s reading my book because kids in New York grow up in a fast-paced society and they are so aware of the celebrity culture and material goods. It’s easy to get caught up in the herd mentality,” Barash told RadarOnline.com.
“Daughters have more power because of the way we raise them and we tend to be more lenient when we need to have more boundaries.”
Bensimon, 42, is a single mom who joined the cast of the RHONY in season 2. She shares two daughters Teddy, 9, and Sea, 11, with her ex-husband the legendary photographer Gilles Bensimon.
