Carrie Underwood isn’t one to mince words. In a recent interview the country singer took aim at ex Tony Romo and American Idol judge Simon Cowell.

“Simon’s obviously very smart. But he’s not the smartest person I know,” she told Esquire magazine (read more juicy excerpts on PopEater). It’s only a matter of time before the British curmudgeon responds to the not-so-subtle swipe.

When asked about whether or not her song “Cowboy Casanova” (which includes the lyrics: “Run run away, don’t let him mess with your mind/He’ll tell you anything you wanna hear/He’ll break your heart, it’s just a matter of time”) was about Dallas Cowboys quarterback Romo, Underwood quickly brushed off the suggestion, belittling the football stud.
“No. I would never immortalize a guy that did me wrong. I would never give him that much credit.”
