Chace Crawford will soon get even more practice playing a spoiled, young New Yorker. The Gossip Girl cutie has signed on to play a dark role in the film Twelve, which takes place in the same upper-class circles as his popular CW show.
The movie follows high-school dropout White Mike (Crawford), a privileged young Manhattanite who sells marijuana to his rich classmates. His life takes a scary turn when his cousin is brutally murdered—and his best friend is charged with the crime.
The film is based on a novel by the same name, which was written by a then 17-year-old, private-schooled New Yorker. Other stars who have signed on to the project include Emma Roberts, 50 Cent, Rory Culkin and Kiefer Sutherland. Production is expected to begin later this month and should hit theaters in 2010.
