Washington Democrats Play The Sopranos Card

Back in 2004, Washington state’s gubernatorial election went down to the wire and then past it: After three recounts, Democrat Christine Gregoire was ruled the winner over Republican Dino Rossi by a margin of 129 votes. Rossi is running against Gregoire again this year, and if this ad is any indication, it’s going to get ugly. The spot, subsequently pulled by the state Democratic party, plays “the theme song from the hit series about Italian-American mobsters, while criticizing Rossi’s ties to the Building Industry Association of Washington, a powerful lobby group in the state. A black-and-white photo of Rossi, who is of Italian descent, is on-screen the entire time.” You ask us, it actually helps Rossi: Wouldn’t you rather have a governor who literally knows where the bodies are buried?
