DOWN FOR THE PARTY Stone?
For all his own baffling missteps, Gov. Elliot Spitzer needed only wait for New York Republicans to respond with some dazzling idiocy of their own.
According to new reports, an irate Republican left a voicemail for Gov. Spitzer's dad threatening to drag the elderly real-estate mogul to Albany to testify about his "shady campaign loans" and that there wasn't a "goddamn thing your phony, psycho, piece-of-shit son can do about it." Spitzer's private investigators traced the call back to the office of Roger Stone, a high-priced consultant known both for his clients (Bob Dole, George W. Bush, Al Sharpton, Donald Trump) and his apparent decision a few years back to post an "insatiable couple" swinger ad with his wife (fat couples need not apply).
Stone acknowledges the call may have come from his apartment, but notes the building is owned by a Spitzer supporter and suggests this could be just another dirty trick by steam-rollin' Spitzer: "Putting together a voice tape that sounds like me wouldn't be hard to do."
