An Open Letter To The New York Times Editorial Page Editor

AGAIN WITH THIS GUY? Goldberg Dear Mr Rosenthal,
It's important to keep in mind that when an idea is presented on the Op/Ed page of your venerable publication, many people read it and take it seriously, whether or not it actually deserves to be taken seriously. So I would offer that it is incumbent upon you to uphold certain editorial standards —you know, to be a dutiful guardian of the public conversation. Obviously, you give space to a wide range of authors arguing a wide range of opinions. Which is lovely. But if there is key information necessary for readers to make an informed assessment of one of those opinions, then you really need to make sure it's included.

I'm thinking specifically here of a piece by Jeffrey Goldberg that ate up the middle of page A27 in yesterday's paper.
