Deep Inside Penthouse

Penthouse magazine’s newest contributor, Terry Richardson, wasn’t at the Pet of the Year party Monday night—but he might’ve been the only one. The line stretched down the block outside the Penthouse Executive Club, a testament to the change in the magazine’s image since new editor in chief Mark Healy took over a year ago, bringing his GQ sensibility with him. Gone are the body parts photographed so closely you can count the ingrown hairs; replacing them is standard men’s-mag fare, including the occasional article worth reading.

But some things never change—things like Forum, the Penthouse spinoff title full of “It happened to me!” letters depicting X-rated fantasy scenarios. While other party guests pretended to be bored at the sight of strippers (who, for some reason, all appeared to be either black or Hispanic), a Forum editor explained how it works.
