Cops were quick to put the bite on a teacher who allegedly bit a child at a park in South Carolina!

Melanie Johnson, 35, faces charges of assault and battery after Greenville County police say she grabbed an 11-year-old boy who had taken another boy's hat at a birthday party.

According to local reports, she was watching the children play at the trampoline park and apparently decided it was time for discipline when the boy refused to return the other boy's cap.

Johnson allegedly yelled, "Let go of his hat!" and then bit the child.

The fourth-grade teacher has been put on administrative leave by the Pickens County School District, says spokesperson John Eby, while an investigation is being carried out.

Authorities said a review of surveillance video at the park showed Johnson grabbing and biting the 11-year-old.

She is a teacher at the Forest Acres Elementary School, according to the school's website.

The boy and his mother were the first to report the attack to Greenville County police, and the child reportedly had a bite mark on his wrist.

Johnson turned herself in to the police the next day after warrants had been signed for her arrest. The attack happened the afternoon of Jan. 28 at the Sky Zone trampoline park. It was unclear why Johnson was at the park — or whether she even knew the boy!
