Jessica Alba’s Honest Company To Pay Out $1.5 Million Dollars For Lying To Customers

Honesty may be the most expensive policy for Jessica Alba.
Her Honest Company has agreed to pay out $1.55 million in a class action lawsuit settlement for lying to customers about a chemical they claimed was absent from their products. Turns out, it wasn’t.
The billion-dollar company claimed its laundry detergent, dish soap and multi-surface cleaner did not contain Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, which can cause rashes.
Instead, the products boasted a “gentler alternative” to SLS called Sodium Coco Sulfate or SCS.
But court documents note they’re basically the same thing.
As part of the settlement, Honest will with pay customers back, or give them a credit to use for future purchases.
In a message from the Honest Company to the Daily Mail.com, executives explained the reasoning behind the settlement.
“We vigorously deny any and all allegations alleged in the lawsuit – specifically that any of our cleaning products contain SLS,” the statement reads. “However, given the fact that continued litigation could be protracted and expensive, we have settled this lawsuit to limit further costs and distraction to our business.
“We stand behind the safety and effectiveness of our products and the responsibility we have to our consumers, and are gratified by the loyalty of both our customers and retail partners.”
