‘He Survived’: FBI Chief Recalls Victim Who Outlived Unabomber’s Homemade Explosive

A Salt Lake City computer store staffer named Tammy looked out the window one day to find Ted Kaczynski wearing a hoodie and sunglasses, placing a large object — later found to be a homemade bomb — under her car. Seeing the criminal’s act, the woman’s coworker picked up the object, only to have it explode in his face.

That was the first glimpse Tammy got of the feared Unabomber.

“He survived,” says FBI Supervisor Donald Max Noel, in a show teaser for REELZ’s new docuseries, Murder Made Me Famous: The Unabomber. “They brought a police artist in and he did a composite.”

The sketch of the Unabomber went national and became one of the most infamous images in modern history.

After three deaths, 23 injuries and decades of investigation, the crazed killer was finally exposed by an FBI unit.

“In my 31 years as a criminal investigator in the FBI, he was one of the most evil people that I’d ever come in contact with,” admitted Noel in the show promo.

Murder Made Me Famous: The Unabomber airs Saturday, April 28 at 8:00 ET/ PT on REELZ.
