'Mini Me' star Verne Troyer spiraled into a sad depression before he died this weekend aged just forty-nine.

RadarOnline.com understands that the tiny actor was admitted to hospital last week 'drunk and suicidal' as he struggled to cope with growing depression and alcoholism.

His death comes after earlier this month he was rushed to the emergency room when his friend called 911 saying the actor was both 'drunk and suicidal'.

It has been reported that he was on some kind of life-support after being taken to hospital but his body failed him.

His family rushed to be by his bedside but they knew that the situation was dire as he had struggled with alcoholism and had been to rehab many times before.

It is understood that he was being treated for acute alcohol poisoning in his final few days but was not able to pull through.

Knowing it was the end his family carried out a baptism by his bedside before he died on Saturday.

Tributes to the tiny star have started to come from friends and co-stars in Hollywood who worked alongside him.

Despite his battles Troyer had a glittering Hollywood career starring in blockbuster movies like 'Austin Powers', 'Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire' as well as reality shows like Celebrity Big Brother and Wife Swap.
