The investigation into the death of 'Mini-Me' star Verne Troyer, who passed away this weekend at the age of forty-nine, has been launched.
The L.A. County Department of the Medical Examiner has revealed that Troyer's death has been assigned to an investigator and that his autopsy has been scheduled for next week.
Authorities will want to pin point the exact cause of death of the 2 ft 8 inch tall star.
It is understood that he was being treated for alcohol poisoning in hospital after he was taken to a Los Angeles facility following a 911 call that claimed he was suicidal.
The tiny star had battled demons for many years and endured several stints in rehab.
It has been reported that Troyer died in the hospital, which was where he had been since being placed under an involuntary psychiatric hold.
He was understood to have been on life support before his body failed and he died surrounded by family and friends.
Tributes from around Hollywood have been paid to Troyer since his death on Saturday.
