The End? Tori Spelling Walks Out On Dean McDermott
Much like her credit cards, Tori Spelling’s marriage seems to be maxed out!
Just two months after being hospitalized for a mental breakdown, pals of the broke reality star told RadarOnline.com Spelling has stormed out on deadbeat Dean McDermott and run into the arms of an unlikely ally: her dour mother, Candy Spelling!
“Candy has never liked Dean,” said an insider. “And she’s the first one to say ‘I told you so’ to her daughter. But Tori has five kids and had nowhere else to turn.”
As recently as 2014, Spelling admitted that there was not “much of a relationship” nor “much communication” between her and her mom, but Spelling, 45, is suddenly feeling more amenable to burying the hatchet with her rich 72-year-old mother if it means a respite from her marital dramas with McDermott, 51, and her financial woes.
Once one big happy family, Spelling’s relationship with her mom took a nosedive following the death of Spelling’s dad, TV mogul Aaron Spelling, in 2006. Naming Candy in his will as the executrix of his $600 million estate, he only left his daughter and her brother, Randy, $800,000 apiece — which the 90210 alum blew through in record time.
Not only did McDermott and Spelling continue to spend recklessly despite being hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt, they’ve moved several times in recent years and are currently saddled with $10,000 a month in rent.
Feeling generous in her old age — and likely as a plea to repair her fractured relationship with her daughter — Candy has taken some of the pressure off by padding McDermott and Spelling’s purse.
“She’s been paying the couple’s monthly rent, buying groceries and paying for the children’s private school,” said the source, adding Candy drew the line at bailing her daughter out of her $700,000 IRS bill and six figures’ worth of credit card debt.
“Now that Tori has run off to Candy’s house,” said the source, “maybe Dean will realize how dire this situation is and find a way to keep the family intact.”
“With Tori out of commission, Dean is changing diapers, driving the kids back and forth to school and cooking meals,” said the insider. “And he’s exhausted.”
Now, under the guise of giving McDermott a break from playing Mr. Mom, Candy convinced Spelling and the kids to spend two nights a week at her mansion.
“She’s telling Tori that this will work wonders for her marriage,” said the source, “but really, Candy’s goal is to get her away from Dean for good — two days a week is just the first step.”
While Candy doesn’t relish the thought of her daughter being a single mom with five mouths to feed, it’s better than the alternative.
“Candy felt she could no longer sit by and watch Tori unravel,” another source said, “so she jumped into action and opened her doors. Candy is a shrewd woman, and is hoping Tori may finally be ready to walk out.”
