About six months since she cut her father, Thomas Markle, out of her life, Meghan Markle is getting ready to welcome her first child with Prince Harry, and her estranged parent is set on getting the broken family back together.

"Thomas is praying Meghan will give him one last chance this holiday season," an insider recently told Milan's Grazia magazine. "He's clinging to the fact that Christmas was such a special time for them growing up, and hoping against hope that her heart will soften and she'll at least pick up the phone and patch things up."

RadarOnline.com readers know Meghan, 37, stopped talking to Thomas, 74, after he made a series of embarrassing comments about her, Harry, 34, and the royal family in a string of paid interviews. He also allegedly lied about his health following a staged photo scandal and failed to attend his daughter's luxurious wedding.

Despite all the drama, however, Thomas has continually said that he is sorry for what he did, adding that he needs his beloved daughter in his life.

"He's growing impatient and there's talk of more blabbing if he doesn't get some encouragement very soon. When you see Samantha piping up with more ramblings, it's usually a signal he's not far behind," said the source.

Royal biographer Robert Johnson — who traveled with Harry and Meghan on their recent royal tour — said that he asked the couple whether they had alerted Thomas about their pregnancy, to which they replied, "No comment."

Insiders believe there is a deep reason for Meghan's rejection of her father, but Robert does not know what it is. "It seems very complicated; families are difficult. But this one won't go away," he told the outlet.

While Robert does not believe Meghan's relationship with half-sister Samantha is repairable, he thinks all the Duchess of Sussex and her dad need is an honest conversation.

"Thomas has been badly treated and he's made his position clear," he said. "It's sometimes as though Meghan doesn't want anything to do with her past. But, the fact remains: he's her dad."

Now that Meghan is getting ready to welcome her first child with Harry and move into a new royal mansion, her father is hoping she will find it in her heart to let him back in.

"Thomas is now praying for a Christmas reprieve. He can act bullish after being frozen out in such a brutal fashion, and he goes through moments where he wants to speak out again. But then common sense takes over and he realizes it'll only drive him further away. He wants a call by Christmas and is desperate not to give up hope," said Robert.
