Thomas Ravenel Jr. surrendered himself to the cops on Tuesday morning following a warrant out for his arrest for an incident that took place in January 2015, RadarOnline.com has exclusively learned.
According to a spokesperson for the Charleston County Detention center, the Southern Charm star arrived at the jail at 9 a.m. today and is currently being held until his bond hearing later this afternoon.
"There was enough evidence from that January 2015 incident to arrest Mr. Ravenel, and we issued a warrant out for his arrest," a spokesperson for the City of Charleston Police Department told RadarOnline.com.
"He is currently here on second degree assault and battery — that is what he is charged with. He will either going to bond hearing 2pm or tonight at 7 pm," the spokesperson added.
While it is unclear what specific incident Ravenel turned himself in for, in January of 2015 police had been investigating Ravenel on sexual assault claims made by an anonymous woman.
According to an insider, Ravenel plans to fight to clear his name.
"He plans to go full force against this woman," an insider said. "He will subpoena her and everyone involved. He's going to fight back against her."
As RadarOnline.com reported, two women have accused Ravenel of sexual assault: One claimed he attacked her on Christmas in 2015 and paid her a $200,000 settlement, and the other woman, nanny Dawn from the show, claimed he assaulted her in his home.
Ravenel, 56, was fired from Bravo's hit show after the allegations surfaced.
