'I Am Disabled, I Fall Sometimes': Selma Blair Reveals She Has Multiple Sclerosis
Beautiful Selma Blair has revealed she's been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. The actress told her fans via a photo caption on Instagram about her struggle with the devastating disease that can cause pain, fatigue, vision problems, muscle weakness, and severe mobility issues.
Blair, 46, wrote the post out of gratitude to Allisa Swanson, the costume designer for her upcoming science fiction Netflix series Another Life.
The Cruel Intentions star noted that Swanson helped dress her as needed and she "not only designs the pieces my character Harper Glass will wear on this new Netflix show, but she carefully gets my legs in my pants, pulls my tops over my head, buttons my coats and offers her shoulder to steady myself."
She went on to praise and appreciate the "understanding producers" at Netflix, who work around "an exacerbation" of her MS.
"I am disabled. I fall sometimes. I drop things. My memory is foggy. And my left side is asking for directions from a broken gps," Blair revealed. "But we are doing it."
According to the former Anger Management actress, she was first diagnosed with MS on August 16.
"I am in the thick of it but I hope to give some hope to others. And even to myself. You can't get help unless you ask. I am a forthcoming person and I want my life to be full somehow. I want to play with my son again. I want to walk down the street and ride my horse. I have MS and I am OK," she wrote. Blair had son, Arthur with her fashion designer beau Jason Bleick in 2011. They split up in 2012. She had previously been married to Ahmet Zappa.

Earlier this year, Blair said she was celebrating two years of sobriety. In 2016, she had admitted to having "mixed alcohol with medication" in an odd airplane incident.
Now she's in the fight of her life against MS—and looking back, Blair believes that she has possibly been suffering from symptoms for the past 15 years.
Her actress pal Elizabeth Berkley recommended Blair see her brother, who was able to provide the diagnosis after seeing lesions on Blair's MRI.
The star is getting support from other famous friends, including Jaime King, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr. And of course, her many fans who have long followed her busy career.
