He is set to star in one of the most anticipated films of the year.
But before he appeared in The Great Gatsby Leonardo DiCaprio was just a baby-faced 14-year-old desperately trying to win a role in the TV version of The Outsiders.
The 38-year-old hunk is just one of several top Hollywood stars featured in never-before-seen audition tapes, which are going on the auction block in Beverly Hills on Friday and RadarOnline.com has clips of the rare footage!
Three casting directors have dusted off their VHS tapes and given them to Julien’s Auctions as part of the auction house’s Hollywood Legends event.
Some of the gems include a nervous Brad Pitt auditioning for a role in the 1991 blockbuster Backdraft, which starred Kurt Russell and Robert DeNiro.
Golden-haired Brad was just one of three leading actors vying for the role of Kurt’s brother. Keanu Reeves also read for the part as did Iron Man star Robert Downey Jr. who auditioned with director Ron Howard three times!
Eventually the role went to Billy Baldwin.
There is also a clip of Oscar winners Helen Hunt and Gwyneth Paltrow auditioning for the role of Dr. Ellie Sattler in the 1993 hit Jurassic Park. Laura Dern later won the part.
A crying, frizzy-haired Nicole Kidman is shown auditioning for the 1991 drama Shattered. She turned down the role and did Days Of Thunder instead, during which she met future husband Tom Cruise.
Ben Affleck, Ellen DeGeneres and Sandra Bullock are just three more on the roster of stars who appear in the tapes, which are estimated to be worth between $2,000 and $4,000 each.
The Hollywood Legends Auction takes place at Julien’s on April 5 and 6.
