Pippa Middleton’s father-in-law was charged with the rape of a minor in France.

Kate Middleton’s younger sister married James Matthews in 2017 and his father, David Matthews, was taken into custody on March 27, 2018, the Telegraph reported.

Investigators with France’s Minor Protection Brigade charged him with “rape of a minor by a person with authority over his victim,” AFP, the international news agency in France, reported.

The incident reportedly happened between 1998 and 1999 and was reported to the police in 2017 by a relative of the victim.

Matthews reportedly denied the accusations.

Middleton’s own family were no strangers to legal problems. Her uncle, Gary Goldsmith was arrested in London in 2017 after he allegedly slammed his wife to the ground during a vicious fight.
