Simon Cowell Desperately Tried Convince Mel B To Divorce Stephen Belafonte

Simon Cowell was so worried about X Factor co-judge Mel B after her overdose in 2014, he arranged for her to meet with divorce lawyers, RadarOnline.com has learned.

"In the days afterwards, following her release from hospital, they tried to help her leave Belafonte. They introduced her to divorce lawyers to help her to go through with it."

Now, as RadarOnline.com readers know, the former Spice Girls member — also known as Melanie Brown — is embroiled in a bitter divorce battle with her ex, and even filed a restraining order against him.

According to the singer's no-holds-barred declaration in a Los Angeles court filing, she claims her husband Stephen Belafonte's alleged abuse and "mind-games" became so "overwhelming" in December 2014, she swallowed a whole bottle of painkiller Aspirin in "in a moment of emotional and physical exhaustion."
