Cry For Help: Mark Salling Told Friend He 'Wasn't Okay' After First Suicide Attempt
Before Mark Salling committed suicide this week, he had previously attempted to take his own life in a shocking cry for help, a friend of the Glee actor revealed exclusively to RadarOnline.com.
"I messaged him after he slit his wrists and I just asked if he was okay, and he directly said no. I was just like, well, how do I respond to that," the pal told RadarOnline.com of the disturbing exchange last summer.
"Do I think somebody should've stepped in and done something? I don't know," the friend told RadarOnline.com. "He did open up to me. When he was acting depressed, I was thinking, sure everyone is depressed. I didn't take it seriously enough."
According to Salling's buddy, he was "shocked" to learn the 35-year-old disgraced actor had finally succeeded in killing himself.
"I didn't think he would follow through. Just because when he slit his wrists...he freaked out," the friend revealed. "He was like 'what the f**k am I doing!' It really rattled him."
Salling, who recently pleaded guilty to child porn charges, was expected back in court March 7 for sentencing. But, on January 30, the LAPD received a missing person report on the Glee star. Six hours later — around 8:50 AM — police discovered his body.

As RadarOnline.com reported, Salling was found hanging from a tree.
"He was just a kid from Lake Highlands...I have no idea what happened or why," Salling's friend said. "That wasn't him...something was wrong. Mental health is so important and I wish he would have been able to get help."
