‘He Never Said Goodbye!’ Inside ‘Devastated’ Mark Harmon’s Secret Heartbreak

The death of Mark Harmon’s beloved friend literally left him at a loss for words. A source close to the NCIS star exclusively told RadarOnline.com how hard he took the passing of showrunner Gary Glasberg.

“After the passing of Gary Glasberg, Mark was very much not himself,” the insider told RadarOnline.com. “He was obviously very devastated and was on edge pretty much the whole day I was there.”

Harmon, 65, was especially torn up over his co-worker's sudden passing because he “never said ‘goodbye.’”

“Mark’s wife Pam said he almost didn’t speak a whole sentence for about two days after Gary died because he was in such disbelief and sadness,” the source spilled. “He wanted to be close to Pam, but didn’t want to talk about what happened.”

Glasberg passed away in his sleep at the age of 50 in September 2016.

But the death of his friend hasn’t been his only struggle, as the CBS star also underwent secret surgery that led to extreme weight loss.

“He isn’t sick,” the source previously told RadarOnline.com. “About a year ago, he had surgery on his knee. It was an old football injury"

The insider added, “Because of his tough rehabilitation, he has lost weight. But he’s doing great.”

Harmon appeared gaunt when he was photographed for the first time in 250 days earlier this year.

“Losing his father in an instant like that, when he seemed the picture of health, seems to rattle him to this day,” a source said. “I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s convinced he’ll die soon from heart disease — just like his dad!”

Fortunately for Harmon, New York internist Dr. Stuart Fischer told RadarOnline.com that genetics “plays a small role in the prevalence of heart disease.”
