A 55-year-old man named Mathew Evan Goldstein was taken into custody Tuesday afternoon in Washington D.C. in connection with unlawful entry, after he trailed a motorcade in which President Barack Obama’s daughters Sasha and Malia were riding in, at one point breaching a security checkpoint.

Secret Service officials said Goldstein, who was riding in a gray Honda sedan, was detained and questioned into the evening. The security breach, which occurred at 17th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue, prompted officials to shut down the area and lock down the White House for more than an hour.

Goldstein, an Internal Revenue Service worker who had an access card to the nearby Treasury Department, did not have any illegal or suspicious items contained in his vehicle, according to authorities.

Goldstein has been public about his atheist leanings, as he’s registered on the site Secular.org, and has ties to two organizations, the Secular Coalition For America, and Freedom From Religion Foundation.
