Khloe Goes Off Birth Control Amid Fertility Fears: 'What If I Can't Get Pregnant?'
June 12 2017, Published 10:50 a.m. ET
Khloe Kardashian finally revealed the truth about her fertility struggle with Lamar Odom and learned if she could have children of her own on the season 13 finale of Keeping Up With The Kardashians.
Kim asked her younger sister if she would consider carrying her child after doctors told her "it's too dangerous" for her to have a third baby naturally. But, Khloe wasn't totally on board.
"Having another baby would mean everything to me," Kim explained in her confessional, while Khloe insisted that it wasn't a good idea since Tristan Thompson wouldn't support the idea.
"People think we're so weird already," Khloe said. "Could you imagine?"
But, she changed her mind after Kim asked her to seriously consider it.
"Carrying a child and not have it be mine is a huge decision, but Kim desperately does want another child and I know how hard it is to trust someone carrying your baby," she said in a confessional.
They decided to meet with a fertility doctor to discuss surrogacy in case after Tristan gave his stamp of approval, and went to Dr. Huang's office to see if Khloe was capable of carrying a child.
Dr. Huang asked if Khloe tried to get pregnant in the past, and Lamar Odom's ex admitted she "fake tried," saying that she was taking fertility treatments but didn't want to have a child because "the circumstances weren't the healthiest."
"When I was doing my fertility treatments, they were more so for Lamar," she said in a confessional. "I had to stop because there was much deeper stuff that was happening in our marriage. I knew that it wasn't the right situation to bring a child into."
Kim's hopes were quickly shattered as Dr. Huang started to perform an ultrasound of Khloe's uterus.
"What we're looking at is if there's nothing that's going to get in the way of a healthy pregnancy," he explained while showing the sisters the sonogram. "These are follicles, these hold eggs, so this is just giving you an idea of how young your ovaries are. There are fewer follicles than I anticipate for a normal 32-year-old."
"This is definitely not at all how I thought this appointment was going to go," Khloe said in a confessional. "What if I can't get pregnant?"
"What if I never came here?" she later asked. "There's a reason for everything."
"I can only imagine how scary this is for Khloe," Kim said in her own confessional. "Me and my surrogacy issue, it doesn't even matter right now."
Dr. Huang suggested that Khloe freeze her eggs, and told her to stop taking birth control to see if that would help her follicles grow.
Then, Kourtney told her sisters that she was ready to date again after splitting with Scott Disick. They went to a party later that night, and Khloe tried to help Kourtney meet someone — but it didn't go smoothly.
The next day the sisters went out to lunch, and Khloe told Kourtney that they made her an account on a "farmers only dating website." Kourtney insisted that she didn't need any help, as she "sneaks around this town like a slithering snake."
"I don't know why my sisters think I need help," Kourtney proclaimed in a confessional. "I'm living my life, I just try to keep everything as low-key as possible."
Finally, Khloe went to follow up with Dr. Huang to see if her follicles grew back — and got great news.
"I am so relieved to know I'm able to get pregnant," she said in a confessional.
She went to tell Kim, and admitted she was still thinking about freezing her eggs in case she decided to have a baby with Tristan in the future.
"Tristan and I definitely talk about starting a family," Khloe went on to tell the cameras. "He wants to have about five or six kids with me and that's lovely. We could start at one and we could grow from there. But now knowing I'm not on birth control is scary. It's like a really big step."
