Kelsey Grammer shot from small-time theater gigs to TV superstardom in the ’80s,
thanks to a six-show role as blowhard psychiatrist Frasier Crane on sitcom smash Cheers.
That short engagement morphed into a two decade laugh-filled run.
While this 1991 snap catches Grammer’s pompous shrink in grim shape,
the classically-trained actor was all smiles in 1993 after Frasier was spunoff into a hit show.
Off-screen, the actor has struggled with booze and drugs —
including a ’90s arrest for drunk driving and cocaine possession.
Since marrying wife number four, the 25-years-younger Kayte Walsh, he’s mostly stayed out of trouble —
unless you count becoming a father for the seventh time at age 62!
