Kate Spade's Tragic Secret Life: Star Suffered Marriage & Drinking Problems Before Suicide
June 6 2018, Published 2:33 p.m. ET
Kate Spade was found dead inside her New York City home yesterday as a result of an apparent suicide by hanging — and though her fans were shocked, the famous designer's sister said the death was "not unexpected."
Now RadarOnline.com can report that the 55-year-old mom and mogul had a dark secret life that was plagued by mental instability, as well as marriage and drinking problems.
"Kate was a beautiful and sweet person but it was no secret that she was a big drinker, especially in the past couple of years," a source close to Spade told RadarOnline.com.
"Her family tried to intervene many times, and she didn't want to hear any of it. Instead, she medicated herself her way."
"One of the biggest problems of Kate's life is that everyone was always a 'yes, yes' girl around her. She could have anything she wanted, but all that she really ever wanted was to be loved by her husband, and be a good mother."
But according to the source, Kate and her husband of over 20 years, Andy, "did not have a good relationship towards the end, at all."

"He was shopping around for a new place to live because he was at his limit with her, as she was with him. She told him multiple times that she was going to leave him and that she going to take their daughter with her. It is just such a sad situation all around," the insider added.
In addition to her secret hidden demons, Spade's company was also dealing with financial and legal trouble, as previously reported by RadarOnline.com.
