'Frasier' Star John Mahoney Dies At 77
John Mahoney, best known for playing the wise-cracking father of Dr. Frasier Crane, died Sunday.
The 77-year-old reportedly passed away in a Chicago hospice facility.
Mahoney spent 11 years playing Martin Crane, father of Kelsey Grammer’s fussy lead character, on the Cheers spinoff.
He was nominated for two Emmys and two Golden Globes and won a Screen Actors Guild prize for his portrayal of Martin, a good-hearted everyman compared with his two genius yet picky sons.
