‘I Almost Died!’ Inside Jenelle Evans’ Secret Overdose During Junkie Days

Jenelle Evans almost lost her life to heroin. The Teen Mom 2 star revealed that she was close to dying when she overdosed on the drug.

“I think my low point was with my drug issue and the whole heroin thing,” she told E! News. “I almost overdosed and died. I was trying to run away from the problems.”

Evans, 25, often abused heroin with an ex-boyfriend after she signed custody of her son Jace over to her mom.

“When I started withdrawing for the first time in my life, I was like, ‘This is not the way I want to live,” she said of what forced her to get sober. “This is scaring the s**t out of me, and I need to get help right now.”

Evans then checked into a New Jersey hospital to detox.

Evans is now focusing on obtaining full custody of her 7-year-old son Jace. In May, she finally set up a formal visitation schedule with her mother.

"Barbara knows if she gives him to me that I will cut her off. That will be it. She's scared,” she said. "You know we went to court about Jace and I got a visitation schedule set, but she's still kind of bent out of shape because I still have resentment towards her for still keeping my son and we still butt heads."

She continued that their relationship is “lost” and that she doesn’t think it’s going to “come back.”

In an excerpt from her upcoming memoir Read Between the Lines: From the Diary of a Teenage Mom, she opened up about her drug use.

“My first trip was amazing. I won’t glamorize the drug by going into the long details of why people love it so damned much,” the mother-of-three wrote in an excerpt obtained by E!. “Before I knew it, I was shooting up four or five times a day. I was hooked.”

Despite her current estrangement from her mother, she thanked her in the book for helping her get treatment for the addiction.

“For all of our problems, I owe her for what she did that day,” she wrote. “I called her and told her what kind of trouble I was in, and how I needed help.”
