Between 1978 and 1991, Jeffrey Dahmer went on a killing spree and lost all control over his sadistic demons.

The psychotic serial killer would step out to gay bars in his native Milwaukee and seduce innocent men before drugging, raping and dismembering them.

Sometimes, he would even keep a victim’s genitals or head in his apartment as a souvenir.

Seventeen innocent victims later, the foul odor coming from the rotting bodies inside Dahmer’s apartment began seeping out, saturating the air inside his residential building.

Finally, neighbors started to take notice.

“Jeffrey Dahmer told his neighbors that the stench coming from his apartment came from rotten meat form his broken freezer. But the truth was it was the mutilated corpses of his victims,” says Murder Me Famous host Steve Helling in a teaser for REELZ’s new docuseries, Murder Made Me Famous: Jeffrey Dahmer.

Now 24 years after the serial killer died inside a Milwaukee prison, Dahmer’s former neighbor is also speaking out.

“The smell was so bad, to where it woke me up around midnight or so, and I went to our front door and I looked in the hallway, and that was the first time that I had ever seen death. I could actually see the stench,” recalls Vernell Bass in the clip.

Murder Made Me Famous: Jeffrey Dahmer airs Saturday, August 25th at 9:00 ET/PT on REELZ.
