‘Flipping Out’ Star Jeff Lewis ‘Devastated’ As Surrogate Sues Bravo Over Filmed Birth
Flipping Out surrogate mother, Alexandra Trent, is suing the network following her filmed birth, and new-parents Jeff Lewis and Gage Edward are “devastated.”
According to Variety, Trent named both Lewis, 48, and Edward in the suit against Bravo, saying that she was humiliated by their “disgusting” comments about the birth and that she never knew the producers would film her vagina.
As RadarOnline.com has learned, the comment Trent was referring to was a distasteful joke told by Lewis about her privates.
“If I was a surrogate, and I had known there was going to be an audience, I probably would have waxed. And that was the shocking part for Gage. I don’t think Gage had ever seen a vagina, let alone one that big,” Lewis said after seeing Trent’s vagina during the birth. He later told reporters that he didn’t remember making the remark but that he recognized it was distasteful.
According to the lawsuit, Trent was “deeply damaged” by the comment and even went into a bout of “depression.” She reportedly cancelled another surrogacy contract after the episode aired, out of sheer “embarrassment.”
Lewis told PEOPLE that he sent an apology letter to the surrogate as well as a bouquet of flowers. She then sent gifts for the baby and they stayed in contact, sharing sweet photos of their baby girl. He said he believed everything was “good” between them, and he even considered her part of their little family.
The married couple agreed that they were completely blindsided by Trent’s suit, especially because she signed an agreement at the start of the show, and knew her entire birth would be filmed.
“That, to me, is insanity, because we were upfront and honest from the beginning, to the point where her appearance release was a part of the surrogacy agreement because the whole idea was to document this journey,” said an infuriated Lewis. “It was part of her agreement, it was all tied in. So how do you now say that you didn’t know you were being filmed? It’s a broad appearance release!”
“And not only did she sign an appearance release as part of our surrogacy contract, I believe she signed it as a separate appearance release with the production company. And she signed a nondisclosure agreement, which she now violated. So what’s the point of legal agreements if you’re just going to disregard them all?”

Jeff Lewis claimed he and husband Gage Edward tried to mend ties and keep the peace with surrogate Alexandra Trent because she gave them their little miracle, but she went too far with her lawsuit, and tainted their once-loving relationship.
“Shame on her for mudding such a beautiful experience,” Lewis concluded. “I personally believe she will have to answer to God one day for what she’s done. And if I were her, I’d start drafting my apology now.”
