Remembering Janis: Show Takes Viewers On Tour Of Joplin’s Hotspots, Love Nests & More
Janis Joplin was a beloved rock and roll icon, even years before her tragic OD death. Her passionate music, colorful spirit and immeasurable talent made her unforgettable to every person that met her. 48 years later, her legacy remains very much alive.
REELZ’s new docuseries, Janis Joplin: It Happened Here, looks back at Joplin’s rockstar life, and takes viewers on a tour of her favorite hotspots, secret love nests, and more.
“It was booth 34 and this was her booth. She would’ve sat here and she did leave us a souvenir. If you look up they have taken the old table where she used to sit, and those arrows indicate where she hand-carved the words ‘Janis Lyn’: coolest rock and roll autograph in history right here at Barney’s Beanery,” says Pop Culture Journalist Chris Epting in the show teaser, while pointing at the spot Joplin used to sit during nights out with her pals.

“I think because of her southern roots and sort of down home nature of her upbringing; this place is tailor-made for a Janis Joplin! This place looks like it could sit in Port Arthur, Texas. So you take her out of her element down there, a place like this is heaven! It looks like home,” he adds.
Janis Joplin: It Happened Here airs Wednesday June 20 at 9:00 ET / PT on REELZ.
