Tragedy! Irish College Student Found Murdered At Home After Party In The Apartment
June 20 2016, Updated 5:43 p.m. ET
Molly Ryan, a twenty-two-year-old university student from Northern Ireland, was discovered murdered yesterday morning in the London flat she shares with two other young women. Ryan’s throat had been cut and she’d been stabbed seventeen times.
Ryan was discovered by her American flatmate Grace Atwood, Atwood’s French boyfriend Luc Pascal, and a second flatmate, Roz Walters, a London local. All three were taken into police custody for questioning. In addition, twenty-three people have been identified as persons of interest, all of whom attended a party held at the flat the night of the murder.
The youth and beauty of the victim and her flatmates, as well as the savagery of the crime, have generated an unusual degree of media attention. So far, however, Scotland Yard has largely refused to discuss possible suspects. Calling the case “top priority,” Detective Sergeant Alexander Bruno refused to comment on what progress has been made so far in identifying the murderer but emphasized that the Greater London Police will find Ryan’s killer and bring him or her to justice. He advised the public to give the victim’s loved ones their privacy and urged anyone with information about the murder to come forward as soon as possible to assist the investigation.
In the meantime, one local girl, interviewed on the street around the corner from the flat where this gruesome homicide occurred, summed up the consensus in the community: “I don’t know how I am going to sleep at night ever again.”
