One Dead After Amtrak Train Carrying GOP Members, Including Paul Ryan, Crashes
GOP members were involved in a major crash Wednesday morning after their train collided into a garbage truck, RadarOnline.com has learned.
The Republicans lawmakers were headed to a retreat in West Virginia when the accident took place.
According to reports, the driver of the truck was airlifted and is seeking medical attention. One person has been reported dead and several others are injured.
"An Amtrak train came into contact with a vehicle that was on the tracks at 11:20 a.m. in Crozet, Virginia. Local law enforcement is investigating the incident and crews are inspecting the equipment for damage," Amtrak said in a statement.
"This event just took place within the last hour, so we have all first responders on the scene and we will have more information shortly," added Albemarle County police. "At this time we have no other information."
Some members of congress involved in the crash took to social media to inform the public they made it out safely.

"I am on the train, but I am okay," Representative Don Beacon of Nebraska tweeted.
"We are on our way to our annual GOP retreat, the train carrying members and spouses hit something. Laina and I are ok, I am helping those that are injured, I will have Laina keep you updated as I know more," Congressman Roger Marshall of Kansas said.
According to reports, Speaker of the House Paul Ryan was also on the train at the time and is reportedly fine.
