Singing legend Gladys Knight has pancreatic cancer.
The 74-year-old sadly made the announcement of Aretha Franklin’s funeral service in Detroit.
Tragically, Franklin died of the same disease aged 76-years-old.
As Detroit honors the ‘Queen Of Soul’ the city has been rocked by this latest bad news about Knight.
She told WDIV (Channel 4) that she has the illness although it is not known when the seven times Grammy winner was actually diagnosed.
Franklin lived seven years after it was first confirmed that she had pancreatic cancer, although that is a lot longer than normal.
Talking about her late friend fellow singer Knight revealed how she is coping with her grief.
“The Lord tells us where we are going and tells us when we are coming,” she said.
“So, I’m not overly upset about Aretha’s death and he knows how much each of us can bear, and he calls us home with those things in mind.
“That’s the way I feel about it, because he loves us like that.”
It is estimated by The American Cancer Of Society that 44,330 Americans die of pancreatic cancer each year.
