Clooney Crash Witness Tells All: Driver 'Shocked' & 'Worried' After Slamming Into Actor

A passerby who witnessed the horrific accident that left George Clooney bloodied and bruised told RadarOnline.com in an exclusive interview that the man who slammed in to the star was "shocked" and "worried" following the incident.

"There was a huge noise and I went over to help," the eyewitness exclusively told RadarOnline.com about the Sardinia, Italy, crash early Tuesday morning. "George Clooney was on the street."

The driver who struck Clooney, 65-year-old plumber Antonello Viglino, was distraught, the onlooker insisted.

"The driver was very shocked, and as soon as he was told about who he had hit, he became worried too," he said.

Vignilo previously claimed he had been blinded by the sun when he turned his car and hit the scooter-riding actor, 57, on July 10, sending him head-first into his windshield.

In the panic after the accident, one of Clooney's bodyguards — who had been driving ahead of him and narrowly missed hitting the car himself — told the driver he had hit a Hollywood star, to which he replied: "Who?"

The bodyguard reportedly told him: "Clooney ... the actor ... the one who shoots the film at the airport."

Vignilo told Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera: "They told me Clooney had been taken to hospital. I wanted to go see him but when I was about to leave they told me he had already left the hospital. I hope to see him again."

Clooney was rushed to a medical facility with trauma to his pelvis and bruising on his arms and legs, and released a few hours later. Wife Amal, 40, was by his side.

Cops told RadarOnline.com he is expected to make a recovery within 20 days.

As RadarOnline.com previously reported, the accident is still under investigation by local police.

New surveillance video has also emerged showing the brutal point of impact. On his scooter, Clooney can be seen slamming into the car and laying in the ground motionless.
