Fond Farewell: Barbara Walters Plans Her Own Funeral
Jan. 4 2019, Updated 10:19 a.m. ET
Fading Barbara Walters is writing, editing and producing her final show — her own funeral!
RadarOnline.com has learned the deteriorating 88-year-old news legend is desperately trying to beat the clock as she plans every detail of her final goodbye.
“Barbara is a total control freak so it should be no surprise that she’s producing her funeral,” a source said.
“She got the idea to call it her ‘Exit Plan’ from her late friend, writer Nora Ephron. Every single detail has been spelled out — from the flowers to the venue to the guests and even who she wants to sing.”
“Plus, there will be a video package starring her favorite person — Barbara herself!” the source added.
Another insider speculated the video montage would include clips from Walters’ most famous TV interviews, like her last tête-à-tête with Cuban dictator Fidel Castro and asking Monica Lewinsky, “What will you tell your children, when you have them?”
Walters — who created and co-hosted The View until she retired in 2014 — has not been seen in public since July 2016.
While her reps have denied Walters is in poor health and planning her funeral, sources have told RadarOnline.com she’s been hampered by heart disease — and since breaking her hip several months ago, she’s confined to a wheelchair.
Although Walters’ butler had been turning away even her closest friends, RadarOnline.com has learned pals are now being welcomed at her Manhattan apartment.
“Friends have been going to see her because it could be the last time,” said one source.
