Ewan McGregor’s Daughter Clara Says Sorry For Calling His New Girlfriend ‘Trash’
Ewan McGregor’s daughter, Clara McGregor, is apologizing for having called her dad’s new girlfriend “a piece of trash,” but that doesn’t mean she feels any differently.
In an interview with U.K.’s The Times, Clara, 22, said that bashing Mary Elizabeth Winstead so brutally “wasn’t the most mature way to go about things, but I was angry and upset.”
RadarOnline.com readers recall Clara commented on a photo of Mary Elizabeth, 3, posted by an Instagram fan account earlier this year.
“Most beautiful and talented woman on earth? Oh man y’all are delusional. The girl is a piece of trash x,” she wrote at the time.
The harsh comment came weeks after her famous father, Ewan, 47, dumped his wife of 23 years, Eve Mavrakis, 52, to date his much-younger Fargo costar!
The infamous photos of them kissing on a date were published on the birthday of one of Ewan’s daughters, a fact which only caused the family and Clara to be even more upset about the sudden affair.
“There had been a lot building up to it and a lot to deal with—not to make excuses or anything—but, yeah, it wasn’t my finest moment,” Clara said of her Instagram comment.
She added that while they had all started to “cope” with their parents’ split and their dad’s new relationship, they were extremely shocked when they saw him smooching his new gal this October!
“But my dad didn’t know it was going to come out. He didn’t want us to see that, but, you know, there were paparazzi following them around,” Clara explained.

She then went on to say that while she has her “mom’s back in this—fully,” she is still very close to her dad.
“I love him and I always will,” Clara said. “The relationship’s not going to end because of this. We are incredibly close and despite me strongly disagreeing with how he’s gone about things, I’ll always love him, and I hope he’s happy, you know?”
