Billy Graham died at age 99 on Wednesday morning at his Montreat, N.C., home, said the charismatic television evangelist's spokesman.
Graham, who was beloved among the hundreds of millions of Christians who he reached over his decades-long career, had suffered from pneumonia, cancer, Parkinson's disease and other health issues in his final years.
The religious showman became famous for his "crusades" — giant rallies he held around the country — and was sought out by presidents, including Richard M. Nixon and Ronald Reagan, as a spiritual advisor.
"Most of my life has already been lived," Graham once said. "I'll be glad when the moment comes when the Lord calls me to heaven. I get tired down here sometimes."
