While Joseph Duggar's sisters Joy-Anna and Jinger have been in the spotlight with their baby bumps, his wife Kendra is also pregnant. Now Joe and Kendra are getting attention with their odd gender reveal! On Saturday, the family did a traditional gender reveal of Joseph and Kendra's baby on the Duggars' website.
Joe's excited parents wrote in the headline, "Joe and Kendra are having a….," and then the happy couple wrote, "Wow! We are so happy to learn that our firstborn is a boy! Our minds are already racing toward all the future memories to be made with this little guy! Most of all, we are already asking God to bless him and help us grow him into a loving and faithful follower of Christ! - Joe and Kendra."
The boy announcement finished with a message from Joe's parents Jim Bob and Michelle, who wrote, "We are so excited for Joe and Kendra! We know they will be great parents and this little one will be such a blessing! We are thankful for all of our precious grandchildren!!"
However, the gender reveal was more explosive than that! As Us Weekly reported, things got bizarre as Joseph’s brother, John David Duggar, who is an Arkansas constable and part-time officer with the Tontitown Police Department, organized a truly original gender reveal using tannerite mixed with blue-colored powder to reveal the gender of their child once the explosive detonated.
The Counting On starring Duggar family stood about 20 yards behind John David — who has undergone extensive gun safety and firearms training — as he shot a bullet 200 yards into the substance commonly used in target practice. The blue powder revealed Joseph and Kendra are expecting a boy. Joe and Kendra announced her pregnancy in December, just three months after their wedding.
The two walked down the aisle after his sister, Joy-Anna Duggar and her husband Austin Forsyth were hit with a shotgun wedding scandal. She is expecting their first child soon.
Joe and Kendra faced their own fan heat for putting expensive items on their wedding gift registry, which looked unusual for a family that promotes modest ways. Now, their strange gender reveal involving a gun shot is sure to cause consternation!
