Donald Trump Nominates Conservative Ex-Lawyer For Supreme Court Role
This Monday night, President Donald Trump nominated Brett Kavanaugh to join the Supreme Court in the place of Justice Anthony Kennedy.
In his speech, Trump, 72, bragged about the former lawyer's "impeccable credentials," and gushed about his strong leadership skills.
RadarOnline.com readers know Kavanaugh, 53, was a longtime advisor for President George W. Bush, and has served on U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit for the past 12 years. He is a Yale and Georgetown graduate and has published a book on judicial precedent. He is also a proud Catholic.
Kavanaugh's acceptance into the court would mark the start of a much more conservative era.
Trump's endorsement of Kavanaugh comes after he nominated celebrated Justice Neil Gorsuch last year. That choice, however, was much less controversial, as the judge is not known to be a strict republican like Kavanaugh.
"Tonight, it was my honor and privilege to nominate Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the United States Supreme Court," tweeted Trump after his announcement.
