Demi Lovato checked out of rehab after only five days and headed to Chicago, RadarOnline.com can confirm.
But not to worry: a source close to the 25-year-old troubled “Sober” singer revealed the trip is all part of her treatment plan.
“Demi and her mom flew to Chicago together, where she is meeting with a team of doctors that were very influential to her in early recovery,” the source told RadarOnline.com.
The source said the admitted addict and her mother, Dianna Hart, went to Timberline Knolls treatment center, where she went to rehab for three months as a teen in 2010.
According to the source, Lovato – who was hospitalized at Cedars Sinai in Los Angeles for nearly two weeks following her near-death overdose on July 24 — “trusts the team of doctors at the facility with her life.”
“The team at Timberline reached out to Demi to try and convince her to get treatment there after her overdose, but she was too ashamed and embarrassed to go there because of their long history,” the source told RadarOnline.com.
“After a lot of consideration, Demi and her mom wanted to talk to them because they wanted to see what they recommend for her treatment.
According to the Timberline Knolls website, the center is a “private residential treatment center for women with eating disorders, addictions, mood disorders and trauma.”
At this time, Lovato is expected to return to treatment in Arizona.
