New details on the case of the University of Pennsylvania student found dead in Borrego Park have been exposed. According to Mercury News, Blaze Bernstein’s high school friend was brought in for questioning on the topic of the young man’s mysterious death. No arrests have been made and no suspects have been identified.

Investigators claimed the friend was scratched all over and visibly nervous when answering questions about Bernstein. He told his interviewers that Bernstein had gone to meet another friend at the California park. He reportedly never came out, so after waiting for an hour outside their car, the friend left.

According to police, the pal who was being questioned was “breathing heavy, talking fast and visibly shaking,” when speaking of the incident. He had “dirt under his fingernails” and was careful not to touch any doors when in the interview room.

“On their way out of Sheriff’s Headquarters, investigators noticed every door the friend had to touch on the way out of the building he pulled his jacket over his hand to prevent his hand and fingers from touching any part of the doors he touched,” the affidavit read according to a Crime Online report.

When asked about the dirt, he told authorities he was part of a “fight club” and that is how he got so scratched up and dirty.

As previously reported, Bernstein’s parents said they were “devastated” by their son’s sudden death. Investigators agreed, saying they were “killing themselves to bring justice to this family.”
