Watch Out, David! Katharine McPhee’s Nasty Divorce Exposed
Katharine McPhee’s divorce from Nick Cokas didn’t go as smoothly as David Foster’s divorce from Yolanda Hadid, RadarOnline.com can exclusively reveal!
McPhee filed for divore from Cokas, 52, in May 2014 after she was caught cheating on him with Smash director Michael Morris. She listed their date of marriage as February 2, 2008 and their date of separation as March 15, 2013.
Cokas fired back in his own legal papers that their date of separation was actually the day she filed for divorce, and asked the court to have McPhee pay him spousal support and cough up cash for his attorney’s fees.
They got into a heated battle over her Sony Music contract shortly after he put in his request, as Cokas wanted a piece of her $700,000 payout. A judge ultimately signed off that McPhee only needed to pay him $52,500, as she also had to give percentages to her lawyers, accountants and managers.
Ultimately, the American Idol runner-up was ordered to pay Cokas spousal support of up to $400,000 per year on a sliding scale, ending in October of this year, as he did not remarry. She was able to keep her 2013 Mercedes, City National Bank accounts and half of the money made from her songs and appearances during their marriage.
